Integrative massage inside a medical home
People search Massage Therapy when the body is loud. We still take a psychiatric history.
What Massage Therapy actually includes
Massage for anxiety may ease somatic tension; GAD still needs a diagnosis.
Stress massage does not treat bipolar disorder.
What we rule in — and rule out
Not indicated for DVT, open wounds, unexplained fever.
Optional, never required for psych care.
Not a substitute for PT when a tear or radiculopathy is likely.
Not as detox.
How Massage Therapy is structured
Follow the same Hollywood hours model as the clinic.
Aftercare: hydration, dizziness precautions.
Do not book through a party-spa package as if it were psychiatry.
Consent and stop-word.
Labs, scales, and follow-up cadence
Contraindication screen.
No alcohol 'to relax' advice that conflicts with psychotropics.
Do not massage over unexplained calf swelling.
No psychiatric diagnosis by the massage therapist.
Parking, hours, and video visits
South Florida heat, hurricane disruption, shift work, and multigenerational households show up in Miramar presentations. Massage Therapy intake asks about those stressors explicitly.
Miramar sits in Broward County. County-level resources (crisis lines, hospital ERs, IOP programs) are discussed during Massage Therapy when a higher level of care is safer than outpatient titration.
Intake: medical, pregnancy, clots, psychosis, trauma preferences.
Reschedule if febrile or acutely ill.
How Dr. Dorothy Chatelier, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC practices Massage Therapy
Clinical decisions for Massage Therapy are made by Dr. Dorothy Chatelier, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC (DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC). Pharmacogenetic data (including GeneSight when indicated) can inform medication choice; it never replaces a diagnostic interview.
Massage Therapy at Peace & Heart Wellness is directed by Dr. Dorothy Chatelier, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, a Florida-licensed psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with more than a decade of hormone-informed psychiatric practice. Care is hormone-informed and lab-aware rather than checklist-only.
Care is structured around validated instruments (PHQ-9, GAD-7, ASRS, MDQ) plus a clinical interview. Scores inform Massage Therapy; they do not replace it.
