Medication management from the Hollywood medical home
Tapering is a procedure. Stopping paroxetine or a benzodiazepine 'cold' is not a plan.
Clinical scope of Medication Management in Broward County
Tapering is scheduled. Paroxetine, venlafaxine, benzodiazepines, and stimulants each have different withdrawal physics.
Refill-only care is not offered. If you need only a refill, you still need a monitoring interval.
How Medication Management is structured
Set the next visit before the bottle runs out.
If prior authorization is required, start it the same day.
Send the prescription to a named pharmacy; document the pharmacy.
Check labs due for the current class.
Davie FAQs for Medication Management
Can I refuse a medication?
Always. Informed consent includes the option of no medication.
Do you treat insomnia with medication only?
No. We look for apnea, circadian issues, alcohol, and psychiatric drivers.
What is GeneSight?
A pharmacogenetic panel that may adjust probabilities for certain antidepressants. It does not diagnose ADHD or depression.
Do you monitor antipsychotics?
Weight, A1c, lipids, and neurologic side effects are part of the protocol.
How often are visits?
Tighter after a start or change; wider when stable and labs are current.
Can you help me taper?
Yes. Tapers are scheduled by drug class. Do not stop MAOIs, benzos, or paroxetine abruptly on your own.
How far are you from NSU?
Our Hollywood office is approximately 10 minutes from Nova Southeastern University's main campus, making us a convenient option for students seeking psychiatric care.
Do you treat college students from Davie?
Absolutely. We work with many college-age patients on ADHD management, anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders common in academic settings.
How Davie patients actually get here
Davie sits in Broward County. County-level resources (crisis lines, hospital ERs, IOP programs) are discussed during Medication Management when a higher level of care is safer than outpatient titration.
Commute noise on I-95 and the Turnpike changes whether an in-office Medication Management visit is realistic this week. Telehealth is used when the clinical exam does not require the office.
Set the next visit before the bottle runs out.
Document why a requested stimulant or benzo was declined.
Monitoring and safety in Medication Management
New antidepressant: short-interval follow-up for activation and SI.
Alcohol withdrawal is not managed as an anxiety refill.
Stimulants: BP/HR, sleep, appetite, PDMP, diversion discussion.
Valproate: level, LFTs, CBC, pregnancy counseling.
Access from Davie
Commute noise on I-95 and the Turnpike changes whether an in-office Medication Management visit is realistic this week. Telehealth is used when the clinical exam does not require the office.
South Florida heat, hurricane disruption, shift work, and multigenerational households show up in Davie presentations. Medication Management intake asks about those stressors explicitly.
Parking at 7603 Davie Road Extension is on site. Davie patients who drive 12 minutes should plan for weekday 9:00–17:00 hours; Saturday is by appointment only.
You fear dependency, so you skip doses and then crash, which looks like 'nonadherence.'
Book Medication Management
Crisis now is 988 or the ER — not the booking form. For non-urgent Medication Management, use (888) 307-2199 during weekday hours.
If Medication Management is the right next step, schedule a 60–90 minute intake with Dr. Dorothy Chatelier, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC. Same-week telehealth follow-ups are used after the diagnostic visit when clinically appropriate.
