We document sleep architecture, menstrual or androgen history, thyroid clues, and substance use because they change the differential.

Psychiatric Evaluations for Davie patients

Functional psychiatric evaluation adds labs and metabolic context to the psychiatric interview. Labs do not license skipping DSM-5-TR criteria.

Lab testing in psychiatry is hypothesis-driven: TSH, ferritin, B12, folate, vitamin D, CBC, CMP, and selected hormones. We do not shotgun every biomarker on earth.

Labs, scales, and follow-up cadence

If GeneSight is used, results are filed with the limitation statement in the note.

We do not combine MAOIs with contraindicated agents. We do not ignore serotonin syndrome risk.

Patients can request a copy of the formulation; mystery diagnoses are not a clinical style.

Telehealth identity and location in Florida are verified.

How Psychiatric Evaluations is structured

Opening 10 minutes: chief concern, safety, and what you want the evaluation to decide.

Safety: if risk is high, we stop the routine template and use crisis pathways.

Mental status exam is documented: appearance, speech, affect, thought process, insight, cognition, and risk.

After the visit you should be able to repeat the working diagnosis and the next three steps.

In-office versus Florida telehealth

Parking at 7603 Davie Road Extension is on site. Davie patients who drive 12 minutes should plan for weekday 9:00–17:00 hours; Saturday is by appointment only.

Davie sits in Broward County. County-level resources (crisis lines, hospital ERs, IOP programs) are discussed during Psychiatric Evaluations when a higher level of care is safer than outpatient titration.

Records from other clinicians are requested with your authorization; we do not pretend collateral is optional when the history is fragmented.

Labs are ordered when they could change management, not to decorate the chart.

South Florida heat, hurricane disruption, shift work, and multigenerational households show up in Davie presentations. Psychiatric Evaluations intake asks about those stressors explicitly.

You fear judgment, so you minimize alcohol, cannabis, or trauma — and the formulation stays wrong.

What we rule in — and rule out

Family history of bipolar disorder or psychosis that changes how aggressively we screen.

Antidepressant trials that failed, caused mixed features, or were never given an adequate dose/duration.

New or unexplained mood, anxiety, attentional, or psychotic symptoms lasting beyond a brief adjustment reaction.

Substance use that may be inducing or masking a primary psychiatric disorder.
