What Psychiatric Evaluations actually includes

A psychiatric evaluation is a diagnostic procedure: history, mental status, risk, collateral when needed, and a differential. It is not a personality quiz.

Anxiety evaluation separates GAD, panic, social anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and medical mimics such as hyperthyroidism or stimulant toxicity.

Neighborhoods and ZIPs: 33308

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea sits in Broward County. County-level resources (crisis lines, hospital ERs, IOP programs) are discussed during Psychiatric Evaluations when a higher level of care is safer than outpatient titration.

{access}. That access pattern is why Psychiatric Evaluations for Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is written as a service-area page, not as a fake storefront.

Parking at 7603 Davie Road Extension is on site. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea patients who drive 28 minutes should plan for weekday 9:00–17:00 hours; Saturday is by appointment only.

You cannot explain your symptoms in a 7-minute slot, so the note becomes a copy-forward of last year's guess.

Clinical FAQ

Do you replace my therapist?

No. Psychiatric evaluation and psychotherapy are complementary.

How soon is follow-up?

Often 2–4 weeks after a new medication or a complex formulation; longer when stable.

Can I use this evaluation for a legal letter?

Only if the interview actually supports the opinion. We do not write unsupported letters.

What labs might you order?

Hypothesis-driven: TSH with free T4, ferritin, vitamin D, B12, folate, CBC, CMP, and selected hormones. Not every patient needs every test.

Do you see children?

The practice is primarily adults and older adolescents, considered case-by-case.

What if I am in crisis?

Call 988 or go to an emergency department. This clinic is not an after-hours crisis line.

Are psychiatric services available near Lauderdale-by-the-Sea?

While we're not located in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, our Hollywood office is about 25 minutes away, and our telehealth platform makes follow-up care extremely convenient for coastal residents.

Do you address seasonal mood changes?

Yes. Seasonal affective patterns, including reverse SAD (summer-related), are recognized in our evaluations. Florida's unique climate patterns can affect mood differently than northern states.

What we rule in — and rule out

Not indicated as a substitute for emergency care, inpatient psychiatry, or court-ordered forensic evaluation.

Pediatric primary care is not the focus of this clinic; adolescents are considered case-by-case.

Antidepressant trials that failed, caused mixed features, or were never given an adequate dose/duration.

New or unexplained mood, anxiety, attentional, or psychotic symptoms lasting beyond a brief adjustment reaction.

Protocol elements we do not skip

Notes are written the same day whenever possible so the record matches the visit.

Informed consent is documented for off-label use when evidence supports it and alternatives were discussed.

Patients can request a copy of the formulation; mystery diagnoses are not a clinical style.

Collateral from a partner or parent is requested when insight is limited — with consent.

In-office versus Florida telehealth

Commute noise on I-95 and the Turnpike changes whether an in-office Psychiatric Evaluations visit is realistic this week. Telehealth is used when the clinical exam does not require the office.

Parking at 7603 Davie Road Extension is on site. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea patients who drive 28 minutes should plan for weekday 9:00–17:00 hours; Saturday is by appointment only.

Scales are chosen to match the hypothesis — we do not print every questionnaire in the building.

After the visit you should be able to repeat the working diagnosis and the next three steps.
