Medication Management for Miramar patients

Mood-stabilizer adjustment uses levels, kidney/thyroid labs, and teratogenicity counseling when relevant.

Telehealth medication management still requires Florida presence, identity check, and a visit note.

Labs, scales, and follow-up cadence

Missed labs = delayed titration.

Valproate: level, LFTs, CBC, pregnancy counseling.

New antidepressant: short-interval follow-up for activation and SI.

MAOI diet and washout rules if that class is ever used.

Miramar FAQs for Medication Management

Can you help me taper?

Yes. Tapers are scheduled by drug class. Do not stop MAOIs, benzos, or paroxetine abruptly on your own.

Do you monitor antipsychotics?

Weight, A1c, lipids, and neurologic side effects are part of the protocol.

What is GeneSight?

A pharmacogenetic panel that may adjust probabilities for certain antidepressants. It does not diagnose ADHD or depression.

Do you work with my therapist?

With consent, yes. Medication does not replace psychotherapy when both are indicated.

What if side effects start this week?

Call the office. Do not wait for a distant follow-up if symptoms are severe. ER for emergency symptoms.

Do you treat insomnia with medication only?

No. We look for apnea, circadian issues, alcohol, and psychiatric drivers.

Do you understand Caribbean mental health perspectives?

Yes. Dr. Chatelier is Haitian-American and deeply understands the cultural nuances that affect mental health care in Caribbean communities. We provide culturally sensitive psychiatric treatment.

Is your office accessible from Miramar?

Our Hollywood office is about 15 minutes from Miramar via Miramar Parkway. We also offer telehealth appointments for added convenience.

How Medication Management is structured

Share the plan with the therapist when consent exists.

If prior authorization is required, start it the same day.

Review PDMP and allergies.

No-show after a high-risk start triggers outreach.

16-minute path to the Hollywood office

{access}. That access pattern is why Medication Management for Miramar is written as a service-area page, not as a fake storefront.

Miramar (Broward County) has about 135,000 residents. The nearest Peace & Heart Wellness exam room is the Hollywood office, about 16 minutes from Miramar Town Center and the Miami-Dade county line.

Miramar sits in Broward County. County-level resources (crisis lines, hospital ERs, IOP programs) are discussed during Medication Management when a higher level of care is safer than outpatient titration.

You were started on two changes at once, so nobody knows which drug caused the rash.

DSM-5-TR framing for tapering psych meds

Hypnotics only after sleep differential, not as a standing nightcap.

A DSM-5-TR diagnosis that has an evidence-based pharmacologic option the patient wants to consider.

Not indicated for out-of-state telehealth prescribing.

Failed or partial response to a current agent after an adequate trial.
