Clinical scope of Psychiatric Evaluations in Broward County

Initial consults at this clinic are scheduled as 60–90 minutes because a 20-minute slot cannot hold a reliable differential.

Walk-in language on older URLs means we will try to find an earlier slot when risk is high — not that a diagnostic interview happens in a lobby.

Miramar FAQs for Psychiatric Evaluations

Do hormones cause psychiatric symptoms?

They can contribute. They rarely explain an entire syndrome by themselves. We test when the history points there.

What labs might you order?

Hypothesis-driven: TSH with free T4, ferritin, vitamin D, B12, folate, CBC, CMP, and selected hormones. Not every patient needs every test.

Can I use this evaluation for a legal letter?

Only if the interview actually supports the opinion. We do not write unsupported letters.

Do you diagnose on the first visit?

Usually we can state a working diagnosis and differential after the first complete interview. Some presentations need collateral, labs, or a second visit.

Will you prescribe on visit one?

Only when the diagnosis, safety, and monitoring plan support it. Controlled substances have a higher bar.

How long is a psychiatric evaluation?

New evaluations are typically 60–90 minutes. Follow-up length depends on risk and how many variables changed.

Do you understand Caribbean mental health perspectives?

Yes. Dr. Chatelier is Haitian-American and deeply understands the cultural nuances that affect mental health care in Caribbean communities. We provide culturally sensitive psychiatric treatment.

Is your office accessible from Miramar?

Our Hollywood office is about 15 minutes from Miramar via Miramar Parkway. We also offer telehealth appointments for added convenience.

Monitoring and safety in Psychiatric Evaluations

We do not combine MAOIs with contraindicated agents. We do not ignore serotonin syndrome risk.

Missed appointments after a high-risk visit trigger outreach, not silent discharge.

Higher level of care is recommended when outpatient Psychiatric Evaluations cannot hold the risk.

Collateral from a partner or parent is requested when insight is limited — with consent.

How Miramar patients actually get here

Commute noise on I-95 and the Turnpike changes whether an in-office Psychiatric Evaluations visit is realistic this week. Telehealth is used when the clinical exam does not require the office.

{access}. That access pattern is why Psychiatric Evaluations for Miramar is written as a service-area page, not as a fake storefront.

If telehealth was used, we record why an in-office visit was or was not required.

Scales are chosen to match the hypothesis — we do not print every questionnaire in the building.

16-minute path to the Hollywood office

Parking at 7603 Davie Road Extension is on site. Miramar patients who drive 16 minutes should plan for weekday 9:00–17:00 hours; Saturday is by appointment only.

South Florida heat, hurricane disruption, shift work, and multigenerational households show up in Miramar presentations. Psychiatric Evaluations intake asks about those stressors explicitly.

Miramar sits in Broward County. County-level resources (crisis lines, hospital ERs, IOP programs) are discussed during Psychiatric Evaluations when a higher level of care is safer than outpatient titration.

You fear judgment, so you minimize alcohol, cannabis, or trauma — and the formulation stays wrong.

DSM-5-TR framing for walk-in psych evaluation

Antidepressant trials that failed, caused mixed features, or were never given an adequate dose/duration.

Adult ADHD concern with childhood onset clues or with strong mimic risk (sleep, trauma, mood).

walk-in psych evaluation is treated as a presenting complaint that still has to survive a differential, not as a self-diagnosis we rubber-stamp.

Perimenopausal, postpartum, PMDD, or androgen-related mood change that has not been medically reviewed.
